Grim Trials is released on Steam for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox also lists Xbox Play Anywhere and says the game can be played within its supported PC, Series X|S and handheld ecosystem. The current official platform set does not include a native PlayStation 4 or Xbox One release, and Steam does not list a native macOS or Linux version.

What platforms is Grim Trials on?
The official July 16 release announcement named Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. Those are the core platform families this wiki uses when discussing the full released game. The announcement is supported by live storefronts from Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo.

Grim Trials on PC / Steam
The Steam version is the clearest PC storefront used by this site. Steam identifies Grim Trials as a Windows release and provides the full minimum and recommended hardware table. The current listing also exposes Single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.
Steam currently displays an August 19, 2026 release date, while the official cross-platform announcement uses August 20. That date discrepancy is covered in detail on the Release Date page; it should not be interpreted as a separate PC edition.
If you are deciding whether your computer can run the game, use the Grim Trials System Requirements page rather than console specifications. The current PC minimum begins at Windows 10/11, 8 GB RAM and DirectX 11, with several dedicated GPUs and Intel Iris Xe listed as minimum graphics options.
Is Grim Trials on Mac or Linux?
The current Steam store page used for this guide publishes Windows requirements and does not list native macOS or Linux system requirements. That means we do not label Grim Trials as having an official native Mac or Linux release. Compatibility layers, streaming or user experiments are separate questions and should not be presented as native platform support without an official listing.
What about Steam Deck?
This page does not assign a Steam Deck Verified, Playable or Unsupported status unless Valve exposes a current official compatibility result that we have verified. A game being on Steam is not by itself proof of a particular Steam Deck rating. Check the live Steam product page or your Steam library for Valve's current compatibility badge before buying specifically for Deck.
Grim Trials on PlayStation 5
PlayStation's official store page lists PS5 as the platform and shows an August 20, 2026 release. The product description matches the core full-game systems found on other storefronts: Avelin's Reaper journey, hex-grid combat, crafting, equipment customization, randomized Blessings and Academy progression.
The official PlayStation surface reviewed here does not expose a PS4 edition. That is why this wiki describes Grim Trials as a PS5 release rather than generically saying “PlayStation” in a way that could imply both console generations.
PlayStation account, console-sharing and store-license language should not be confused with multiplayer. Grim Trials' current multiplayer status remains single-player; see Is Grim Trials Multiplayer? for the evidence by storefront.
Grim Trials on Xbox Series X|S
Xbox's current product page lists Grim Trials as optimized for Xbox Series X|S. It also lists Xbox achievements, Xbox presence and Xbox Play Anywhere. Under “Play with,” the page names PC, Xbox Series X|S and handheld.
The important distinction is that Xbox Play Anywhere is not a second multiplayer mode and does not mean “Xbox players can co-op with PC players.” It is an Xbox ecosystem feature that lets supported purchases/progress work across eligible devices. The same Xbox listing still labels the game's capability as Single player.
For platform coverage, it is reasonable to say the Xbox ecosystem version supports eligible PC and handheld use through the current Xbox listing. It is not reasonable to turn that into an unsupported claim that every Windows storefront, handheld operating system or device is a separate native SKU.
Is there an Xbox One version?
No native Xbox One version appears in the official release platform set reviewed for this guide. The named console generation is Xbox Series X|S. Backward compatibility can only apply to software built for an older Xbox generation; it should not be assumed from the word “Xbox” alone.
Grim Trials on Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has an official Nintendo Switch version. Its product page lists TV mode, Tabletop mode and Handheld mode, with a player count of Single system (1). The original Switch therefore has its own released edition; you do not need a Switch 2 merely to access Grim Trials.
Nintendo may show Nintendo Switch Online platform information on the product page, but that does not indicate online co-op. The explicit player count remains one on a single system. Save Data Cloud or other Nintendo Account services should be treated as platform features, not multiplayer evidence.
Grim Trials on Nintendo Switch 2
Switch 2 also has a separate official product listing, released August 20, 2026. Nintendo again lists TV, Tabletop and Handheld modes and one player on a single system. That makes Grim Trials a simultaneous-generation Nintendo release rather than a case where the Switch 2 edition replaced or arrived long after the original Switch game.
Nintendo's regional product pages can show slightly different estimated file-size presentations, so this platform guide does not force one universal download-size number. Use the eShop page for your region and device when storage is the purchasing constraint.
Is Grim Trials on PS4 or Xbox One?
Not in the current official platform lineup we can verify. The PlayStation storefront lists PS5, while the Xbox product is positioned for Xbox Series X|S and Play Anywhere. The July cross-platform release announcement also names those current-generation consoles rather than PS4 or Xbox One.
This wording is deliberately time-sensitive. We are not claiming an older-console port is impossible forever. If Soft Source or Glory Jam announces a new platform later, that new release can be added with its own date and storefront evidence.
Does the platform change multiplayer support?
No current official platform listing changes the core answer: Grim Trials is a single-player game. Steam labels it Single-player, Xbox labels it Single player, and Nintendo lists one player on a single system. Platform services such as Xbox Play Anywhere, Steam Family Sharing or Nintendo Switch Online do not create co-op by themselves.
There is therefore no current platform you should choose specifically for online co-op, couch co-op or cross-play. Choose based on the hardware and storefront ecosystem you prefer, not on an unannounced multiplayer difference.
Are there gameplay differences between platforms?
The official product descriptions present the same core Grim Trials game loop across storefronts: Avelin, the Academy, repeatable combat arenas, seven bosses, crafted equipment, Skill Tree progression and randomized Blessings. This guide does not claim exact frame-rate, resolution, loading-time or graphics differences because the official sources reviewed here do not provide a complete platform-by-platform performance table.
That distinction prevents a common wiki problem: turning anecdotal performance reports into permanent platform specifications. If you need performance information, prefer a current platform patch note or a controlled test that clearly identifies game version and hardware.
Which Grim Trials platform should you choose?
There is no universal best platform from the official feature data alone. PC is the easiest choice if you want Steam and your hardware meets the published requirements. PS5 is the current PlayStation option. Xbox Series X|S is the console choice within Xbox, with Play Anywhere adding ecosystem flexibility. Nintendo offers both Switch and Switch 2 versions for handheld/tabletop/TV use.
If you already own more than one supported system, the useful questions are your preferred controller/device, store ecosystem, portable-play needs and whether Xbox Play Anywhere matters to you. This site will not create an unsupported performance ranking without measured evidence.
